Grandad & Cristina visit

Last Friday, Grandad and Cristina drove up and visited with Gilbert, Jon & I for a few hours before bravely heading down the 401 again - that's dedication! On the menu: sausage rolls, champagne and milk (for Jon).

Hallowe'en

Hallowe'en was a few days ago, but I saw the PERFECT costume for Luc at the beginning of October. For those of you who don't know already, Luc LOVES cows (probably because he is lucky enough to see the real thing on his grandmaman's farm on a fairly regular basis.)

Here are some cute pics from that day. Enjoy!

Jon's first bath

Poor kid had to wait 5 days for his first bath - we finally found the time and Jon enjoyed it very much...

Luc meets Jonathan

At home with Grandma, Luc meets his new baby brother... so far the transition is going reasonably well... as long as Mummy is still willing to put aside the baby to kiss Luc when he has a "bobo" and Luc doesn't throw plastic balls to (or AT) his baby brother... Sigh.

A Labour of Love

Here are some pics from the birthing centre, taken by a midwife while I was screaming, "You'd better not be taking photos of this!!!" Sigh. Actually I am glad she did. We cut out the naughty bits to save Uncle Simon some embarrassment. ;)

Luc turns 2!

Yesterday was Luc's birthday - no longer a baby, he is a big boy - already TWO (DEUX!) years old. We decided not to have a party this year for TWO reasons (see, there's a theme...) 1. If I set about organizing a party, I would almost certainly go into labour 2. Luc would appreciate an afternoon of both parents' full attention, his favorite foods, games and activities much more than a party full of people at his house.

So, that's what we did: He spent the morning at daycare and then Papa & I brought cupcakes and sang "Bonne Fete" (again) while the kids ate cake, then we went outside to play with the trucks in the yard, went on the slide in the playground and played "sploosh" with rocks before going home to "unwrap" a birthday present, eat Luc's favourite foods, eat ice-cream and sing "Happy Birthday" (again and again) play indoor hockey, chase Papa, read stories and have a bubble bath. All in all a great day for Luc! We are enjoying spending these last few days one on one with him before #2 arrives (no, #2 is NOT here yet... did you really think I would be posting this if he were??!)

One funny story: I had made the cakes, food, decorated, bought Luc's birthday present (a truck) so I told Gilbert he was in charge of one thing: wrapping the birthday present. Gilbert decided that instead of wrapping the present, he would just cover it with a blanket and let Luc uncover it. Sigh. The video demonstrates how successful THAT was!!!

Baby Brother in 3-D!

On July 30th we had a scan of the new baby in 3D - purely non-medical and for fun. This is one of the better pics, the weird blobs around the face are parts of the umbilical cord / placenta and shadows... he isn't deformed!!!

As a further update we had a medical ultrasound yesterday and everything about the baby is progressing beautifully - except that instead of weighing approximately 2 - 2.5 lbs at this point he weighs OVER 3 lbs!!!! Only one thought here: OUCH!!!!!!!!!!

;)

A Baby Brother!!! (Probably)

Despite Papa being in hospital, Luc's baby brother (probably?) made his first appearance on camera, alive & kicking away! He seems very healthy and mischievous - sucking his thumb and mugging for the ultrasound (looking directly at us in the second picture.)

We'll have to change the name of the blog soon.

(He's due to be born around Luc's birthday - end of October...)

My Literary Baby

I know Luc LOOKS just like Gilbert, but there is one way I can tell that he is mine...

It all started with "The Eye Book" last summer, when a normally active baby Luc sat quietly reading for 20 minutes while we had lunch one Sunday afternoon in Oakville. We realized then that he has the passion - for reading!!!
